365 docobites: docobite of the week – Miriam in Athens

Meeting Miriam in Athens, the 365 docobites crew learn that maybe we’re all on our own pilgrimage of faith, whatever shape or form that might come in…

I am a true pilgrim

What do you have faith in?

And how has that faith helped you to achieve?

Miriam is on a journey, travelling from Holland to Jerusalem, “on a true pilgrimage,” with only a compass and the clothes on her back.

After seeing her God and listening to his instructions to leave behind everything – her house, her job and her bunnies (pet rabbits) – she began walking. She initially marched for three days across Germany, then with the help of strangers, got herself to Athens.

I don’t believe I have ever met someone with such conviction. She believes she is meant to get to Jerusalem; she believes, 100 percent that she will get there, which is probably why in three weeks she has already made it this far, to Athens, even though she doesn’t even have a passport.

She is the proof that having faith can be a pretty powerful thing. When you consider the recipe required to achieve a goal, faith would appear a crucial ingredient. I’m not just talking about having faith in the religious sense; having faith in your own journey is what seems to be so vital in order to succeed.

Having faith, and believing in something – whether it’s in your creativity, your community, your God’s will or even your ability to fulfil your own “pursuit of humanity” and meet 365 strangers in 365 days – having this absolute faith means that, in one way or another, you will succeed.

The Big Smoke is proud to promote the adventures

of the 365 docobites crew

and will feature a “Stranger of the week” every Friday,

so check back each week to see

who you get to meet next!

About 365 docobites…

The 365 docobites team, Epiphany & Carl, are travelling across five continents for an entire year to introduce the 365 docobites community to a “stranger a day” via a vlog of short and shorter documentaries.

Each docobite will be as unique as the stranger it features, allowing their identity to drive the content. Whether we’re with a stranger for a moment or a day, 365 docobites will capture the essence of that time in their life; humorous or horrific, dramatic or delightful.

What do these people look like?

What do they think about?

What makes them laugh, cry, scream and shout?

What is life like for the strangers of the world?
