The Big Smoke speaks to power-ginger JP Sears about his process of inner enlightenment, and bringing ultra-spirituality to the masses.
Hi, JP! Your YouTube videos are hilarious and bring much wisdom! If for whatever reason you could only save three, which three would you save?

Can you please tell our readers a little bit about yourself, and how your YouTube channel came to be?
I’m an emotional healing coach, speaker, author and of course, YouTuber. I also have devilishly handsome blue eyes and the superpower of being a ginger! When I originally started my YouTube channel back in 2013, I was just sharing straightforward life advice videos to help generate more interest for my emotional healing coaching practice. I progressively found a lot of inner fulfilment with it, as it became my canvas of creativity where I express my perspectives through the language of humour.
What do you think is the main driver to people viewing your videos daily and subscribing to your channel?
I think that when I express a thought or perspective that is active in a person’s life, yet they’re not talking about it and they don’t hear anybody else talking about it, they feel a connection with me and want to keep watching. They’re probably also weird enough that the satire I use to express the thought has an entertaining appeal to them as well.

What inspires you when creating a new video?
Saying something that either I need to hear or saying something that I feel passionate about unleashes my creativity. Using the language of humour is a significant way that I connect with people, and the humour requires more creative flow than if I were just expressing my thoughts in a straightforward way. Finding something meaningful to say is important so that my fires of inspiration can be lit, which then ignites my creativity!
What is in store for down the track?
I have a book coming out in March 2017, How To Be Ultra Spiritual, written entirely through the comedic perspective of my Ultra Spiritual YouTube character. I’m also signed on with a production company to bring my Ultra Spiritual video series into a TV format. And of course, continuing to enjoy the deep satisfaction I get from making YouTube videos! Probably, most importantly, I want to stay true to the heart and soul of the creative muse that I dance with, regardless of what context the creativity is expressed in.
It’s very enchanting to dance with her!
