Approx Reading Time-10We spoke with Paddington-based Wedding Dress designers Moira Hughes Couture about the importance of the big day, and using Instagram for inspiration.

Hi Moira! Your Instagram pics are fabulous. If for whatever reason you could only save three, which three would you save?

We are about to release a new collection and this gown is featured in the latest White Collection magazine. I’m so excited to show the rest!

The “moment” captured of this elopement shoot in the Blue Mountains is perfect! A European photographer flew over especially and the bride was just bursting with smiles.

The pearl gown was captured by a window by chance and it was featured on every blog and every wedding related website. It is such a beautiful image and one from the very beginning.

And your favourite Insta video clip?

This is a recent video taken at the One Fine Day catwalk in Sydney. Our wedding gowns had the honour of closing the runway and we decided to reveal a new dress, Marley, from the new collection. The snaps and videos of the Marley seemed to be everywhere after that – I loved the slow motion captured in this clip.

Can you please tell our readers a little bit about yourself and how your Instagram came to be?

My name is Moira Hughes and I am a couture wedding gown designer in Paddington, Sydney. We created our Instagram account to give our brides a window into our business and display the passion we have for what we do. We love speaking about fabrics and designing new gowns and Instagram gives us a platform to communicate directly with our followers and offer them a snapshot of what is happening in the boutique. We also use our Instagram to show off many of the incredible past brides we have had come through the store.

We are so proud of every dress we make here and the beautiful brides they adorn. It’s amazing to be able to share that to the world.

Our Instagram account is an insight into the world of a couture wedding gown designer.

InstaMoments: What do you think is the main driver to people coming to your Instagram daily and following you?

Brides come to our Instagram as a base to start their wedding planning. It can be an overwhelming world and they trust us as the experts in pointing out the best in the industry. It is a great way to get excited about other Moira Hughes brides on their wedding day whilst dreaming of their own. Many of our followers are not even engaged yet – or they are married and just want to stay in touch.

InstaStories: What is the main story you like to tell through your images?

We love using InstaStories to capture something that we just can’t wait to post! A glimpse of a new gown, some incredible lace being placed on a custom made gown or the smiling eyes of the bridesmaid and Mum when you find that gown. It is a fun way to interact and show the personality and fun we have with our brides in creating the dream wedding gown.

InstaFans: What is the worst way for someone to try and get your attention on Instagram, and what is the best way?

The worst way is the private messages from strange men declaring love to us! You would be surprised how many of those we get. The best way is the consistent engagement on our page. Sharing our #MoiraHughes hashtag and spreading the love is always a great way to get our attention!

Moira Hughes Couture is a locally based collective from Sydney. Why wedding dresses? Well, in her words "You can ask a woman of any age or nationality what her wedding dress looked like and 50 years later she will be able to tell you every detail. That’s why I love bridal, the whole experience. It is so special to be involved in making a woman feel more incredible than she ever thought possible."
