As far as niche dating apps go, an app that matches dog lovers is rather mainstream. After all, who doesn’t have a soft spot for our four-legged friends?

A brand-new dating app has been developed for those who spend hours swiping through dating sites searching for someone who already has an adorable companion of their own.

Dig, in their words, “is a community of people who care deeply about dogs, whether they’re dog owners or want to get a dog with someone in the future.”

“To dog people, it doesn’t matter who starts the conversation, what mutual hobbies they have, or who they know in common. If the people aren’t on the same page about the dog(s), they just aren’t compatible.”

The New Orleans-based company was founded by sisters Leigh and Casey Isaacson after being duped by fake dog lovers a few too many times.

“After a relationship ended when a guy refused to let the world’s cutest dog (Layla) in his apartment, Casey wanted to be sure she could find someone who would love her dog as much as she does,” they write in a statement on Dig’s website.

On top of the typical dating profile, users have the ability to add a dog and its details to their profile. Potential partners on Dig can filter by dog size and personality to ensure a happy match. Alternatively, if your dog doesn’t get along too well with others, or perhaps you just want a dog-less partner who will love your dog, you can filter the search to people without dogs.

Each day, the app will present five fellow dog lovers for you to choose from. If sparks fly, the app will even suggest dog-friendly dates nearby. Furthermore, the app provides canine tips and tricks and connects dog lovers with local dog-friendly businesses.

Perhaps we should all be looking for a dog person as a lover—research shows that dog people are more likely to be empathetic, to live longer, and of course, won’t be afraid of commitment.
