Dr Gwenda Tavan is Associate Professor and the current Head of the Department of Politics and Philosophy at La Trobe University, Melbourne, Australia. Her research interests include the politics and history of immigration and multiculturalism in Australian, global and transnational contexts. Her numerous publications include the award-winning book, The Long, Slow Death of White Australia (Scribe 2005). She is currently completing a biography of Arthur Calwell, Australia's first immigration minister.
