The Big Smoke speaks to Nick Cloete of cloud-based POS geniuses, Kounta, and learns that their ethos and product go far beyond our expectations.

Nick Cloete is an Australian technology entrepreneur who is currently the founder of Kounta. Kounta’s first product is a online Point of Sale System or as Kounta likes to call it a “Merchant Operating System”. Nick earned his business degree in South Africa and his experience working in restaurants are the foundation upon which Kounta was built. With his prior experience owning a legacy Point of Sale company, Nick also saw how the limitations of a localized platform had its own set of issues, especially in addressing the unique needs of retail and hospitality merchants. Nick attests the company's success to a small group of outstanding people who’s constant mission is to design and develop the best way for merchant to better run, manage, grow and connect their business, in store, starting at Point of Sale. Since its launch in 2012, Kounta, based in Sydney Australia has eased the lives of thousands of merchants all over the world. Kounta have partnered with the likes of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia in a world first all-in-one payments and POS solution, MYOB to develop a co-branded version of Kounta and more recently OzHarvest to Fight Food Waste. In addition to his successful business, Cloete also launched an Australia-based family, for which he is hard at work in his roles as husband and father of two.
